Thanks to the Neighbour Grants program from The Calgary Foundation and in partnership with the Calgary Sexual Health Centre, we are able to offer safer space workshops to Calgary venues at no cost.

So far, we are ecstatic to say that Commonwealth Bar & Stage, The Hifi Club, Home & Away , Nite Owl, Oak Tree Tavern and The Gateway have already participated in our program, and we have many others in the works. We are so proud to work with these venues to create a safer music community!

These workshops provide staff with more information about how to intervene safely when they see harassment occurring, and how to react when a person tells them a sexual assault has already happened. We will also be providing our partnering venues with some safer spaces treats, including coasters for customers outlining some tips on bystander intervention.

We will have more venues to announce in the near future. If you are a venue and would also like to take this workshop for free, please email us at and we will set you up.

Thank you to all of our amazing partners for their enthusiasm for this project and their commitment to Calgarians’ safety. Together, we can do this!
